Stay Safe Everyone!

Just learned that an 8.9 magnitude quake just hit Japan.  I’m sending out my prayers to my relatives and friends in Japan, and horrified about what’s happening while I watch the news.  I called my relatives but phone lines seem to be down.  Especially worried about my friends up in Sendai, which is close to the center of the quake.  Hoping everyone is staying safe…

We are still having some small earhquakes here in Tokyo. Very scary, but I’m OK.

I hope Sendai guys are OK, too.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends Sho. I watched it happening live on our local news getting the feeds from Japan. My heart ached immensely as I watched the cars trying to drive and get out of the way of the water and the land and building being swept away. I had an opportunity to go with a team to Aceh, Indonesia about 11 months after the 2004 tsunami they had. We saw some things that I never thought I would have ever seen. My heart ached for those people and hearing their stories of loved ones lost, posessions lost and dreams crushed. Knowing all of that makes me even sadder for the people of Japan because I have a ever so slight glimps of what many will be facing there. I wish I had the opportunity right now to pack up and go there to do whatever I could for the people. My prayer is that they will recover as quickly as they possibly could from all of this and that they get all the help they need from all over. Keep us updated Sho on your family and friends please.

thanks for the comment josh and sharing your experience about helping in indonesia. luckily my family and friends were fine.

i’m totally with you about feeling for the japanese people. i also wanted to be there to help and felt powerless watching the images on the news. it almost looked like it came straight out of a movie. however, i’m confident that they will recover from this and rebuild stronger than ever.

That’s great to hear that you’ve heard from your family and the Sendai guys and that they are all ok. I too agree that Japan will grow from this and be stronger. Hopefully one day I’ll get the opportunity to go there just as I did with Indonesia and help out with whatever I can. I’ve always wanted to go to Japan, just not necessarily on these circumstances. But, my heart is to help others and if there was ever anything I could do for them, I would try my hardest to do so.

I look forward to seeing any updates you have on the situation since you have connections over there. The news is good but they typically focus on the big things and sometimes there’s smaller needs or so that aren’t always mentioned by them.
