Ten Inch Beam?

Ten Inch Beam?

I know that some of the stuff that they show on ABC Family’s Make It or Break It isn’t completely accurate and doesn’t depict the true nature of gymnastics, but I found this one to be pretty ridiculous.

One of my friends this out.  In one of the scenes, a girl is seen performing on a ridiculously wide beam. My eyes could be playing tricks on me (the girl could’ve had ridiculous small feet) because the picture itself is pretty small, but if it is in fact a wider-than-normal beam, then the camera shouldn’t have focused on her feet.

10-Inch Beam!

What do you guys think?

kind of ridiculous don’t ya think!? it shouldn’t be that difficult to edit!

Oh damn…I can’t believe I didn’t notice this! You really have to suspend your disbelief when watching that show. It overflows with inaccuracies.

BUT this does explain how they got someone to do round-off full mounts on beam. I doubt they could have gotten so many good shots of that skill on a 4-inch beam. Also, it probably is a big help for the actors when they have to be up there.

I’m just praying it gets picked up for a third season. Some are speculating that since the finale didn’t really leave any cliffhangers, it might not make it.

haha yea! i’m actually not a regular viewer of the show so i didn’t know the types of skills they were performing on the apparatus. i did find it to be rather ridiculous that they couldn’t catch/edit the width of the beam before showing it to the public though!

    thanks for the comment!

I know! I noticed that a while ago and what I have decided is that a lot of the skills the stunt doubles do are actual olympic skills but a olympic gymnast wouldn’t have time to be a stunt doubles so the girls they really have are national level gymnast and wouldn’t be able to do the skills on a really beam so they have to use wider beams.

i watched this show because i was a competitive gymnast. it’s ridiculous but when i saw that episode showing the super wide beam i freaked out and thought they changed the standard width because how could a tv show not edit such a huge thing like that out. the show is stupid and doesn’t depict how gymnastics really is.

haha, i actually can’t judge whether the show is good or bad because i’ve never actually watched it regularly. it’s definitely funny though and it was an editing mistake on their part for sure!
